BIM Services
We are pioneering the practical application of BIM, which centrally manages all data related to construction projects. By enabling seamless collaboration among design firms, construction companies, manufacturers, and other parties involved in actual building sites, BIM helps improve workflow efficiency and enhances overall project performance.
About BIM
"A New Approach": Introducing BIM to Revolutionize Design, Procurement, and Construction Management
BIM stands for Building Information Modeling, a system that centrally manages all data related to a construction project.
Specifically, BIM enables the simultaneous creation of both two-dimensional (2D) drawings and three-dimensional (3D) models during the design process.
In addition, by integrating and managing a wide range of information—including building geometry, geographic data, quantities and characteristics of building components, and more—BIM makes it possible to streamline and rationalize tasks that previously relied heavily on experience and intuition or required significant manpower and time.
In other words, BIM represents a revolutionary advancement by making construction information easier to manage, utilize, and share for everyone involved in the project.
For example, through the use of 3D modeling, BIM information can be utilized in every aspect of construction, including 3D clash detection between building components, quantity takeoffs for length, weight, and material counts, as well as efficient transportation planning for construction materials. These capabilities dramatically improve both safety and productivity.
HIRUKAWA METAL CORPORATION has been commercializing BIM services since 2010, ahead of others in the industry.
Through our BIM initiatives, collaboration among design firms, construction companies, manufacturers, and other project stakeholders has become smoother at actual construction sites, resulting in higher operational efficiency and improved project coordination.
Furthermore, as one of the early adopters of BIM in the industry, the experience and expertise we have accumulated over the years have become one of our core strengths, earning the trust and confidence of new business partners as well.
HIRUKAWA METAL CORPORATION will continue moving forward without stopping here, striving for further innovation and advancement in BIM-related businesses, including the ongoing digital transformation and IoT integration of the construction industry.
Feature of BIM 01
Sharing BIM Information Enables Visual Communication Beyond Physical Distance
One of the key advantages of BIM is the ability to visually share information among all project stakeholders.
By utilizing 3D modeling, project data can be reviewed in real time from any angle directly on screen.
Even between remote locations, sharing BIM screen data helps deepen mutual understanding and eliminate discrepancies in interpretation and communication.
Specific examples include:
- Simultaneous creation of both 2D drawings and 3D models, allowing all parties to share a clear visualization of the building project.
- Examination of joints, connections, and interference areas, with design changes instantly viewable on screen.
- Automatic calculation and simulation of optimized truck loading plans for construction materials and building components.
Feature of BIM 02
"A New Perspective": Centralized BIM Management of Material Specifications, Shapes, Product Codes, Pricing, Inventory, and Distribution Information
One of the major advantages of BIM is the visualization and centralized management of construction materials and building components.
Traditionally, management information for materials and components existed primarily as text-based or paper-based records, making it necessary to manually compare the information with the actual physical materials for verification.
When reconsidered from a broader perspective, material and component information serves multiple important purposes throughout a project. During the design phase, it becomes essential data for quantity calculations and planning. During procurement, it supports inventory and logistics management. At the construction site, it provides confirmation of where each material or component should be used.
Recognizing that this information is utilized continuously from the design stage through actual construction operations has led to entirely new possibilities in project management and coordination.
By utilizing this information as BIM data, the following innovations have become possible:
- Display of detailed quantity schedules on 3D models, including the length, weight, and quantity of each material and component.
- Inventory and logistics management based on BIM data, including stock control, shipping, delivery, and transportation management for construction materials and components.
- At construction sites, barcode scanning of material and component identification data enables workers to instantly display installation locations and related information on mobile devices.
- Project progress statuses such as “Pending Approval,” “In Production,” “Shipment Completed,” “Delivered to Site,” and “Installation Completed” can be shared and confirmed by all stakeholders within the network.
Feature of BIM 03
Further Utilization of BIM Data for Automated Material Processing Systems
One of the major strengths of BIM is its ability to directly support manufacturing and production through digital data integration.
While production systems using 3D modeling data for materials and building components have already existed, conventional methods required separate data creation for each individual component.
BIM data, however, can be directly utilized within automated production systems without the need for redundant data preparation.
At HIRUKAWA METAL CORPORATION, we established our local subsidiary in Taiwan, Taiwan HIRUKAWA METAL CO., LTD., and have partnered with the Taiwanese metal processing manufacturer Kao Chien Group to build a system capable of meeting client demands through advanced technical expertise and high-speed production capabilities.
In particular, our sheet metal automation lines and precision processing technologies utilizing 3D laser machines have earned high praise for producing highly accurate and complex fabricated products.
